Biloxi Parish (also spelledBeloxy Parish) was acivil parish (county) of theTerritory of Orleans, formed in January 1811 from SpanishWest Florida, stretching from thePearl River to "the river falling into the bay of Beloxi [sic]" (theTchoutacabouffa).[1] The parish was eliminated in 1812 when Louisiana became aU.S. state, and all theGulf of Mexico coastal lands from thePearl to thePerdido rivers were transferred to theMississippi Territory.[2]
"Biloxi Parish" is referenced in the song of the same title by the bandThe Gaslight Anthem.
