William Frederick Holm (July 21, 1912 – July 27, 1977) was aMajor League Baseballcatcher who played for theChicago Cubs (1943–1944) andBoston Red Sox (1945). A native ofChicago, he stood 5 ft10+1⁄2 in (1.791 m) and weighed 168 lb (76 kg).
Holm is one of many ballplayers who only appeared in themajor leagues during World War II. He made his major league debut on September 24, 1943, in a home game against thePhiladelphia Blue Jays atWrigley Field.
In a career total of 119 games he hit .156 (44-for-282, 39singles) with 15runs batted in and 22runs scored. 41walks, however, did push hison-base percentage up to .272. He made 8errors in 417chances for afielding percentage of .981.
