Billroth I, more formallyBillroth's operation I, is anoperation in which thepylorus is removed and the distalstomach isanastomosed directly to theduodenum.[1][2]

The operation is most closely associated withTheodor Billroth, but was first described byPolishsurgeonLudwik Rydygier.[2]

The surgical procedure is called agastroduodenostomy.[1]
