William Clyde Hardiman III is an AmericanRepublican politician from Michigan.[1] He was the mayor ofKentwood, Michigan from 1992 to 2002. He then ran forMichigan state senate in 2002 in the29th district, defeatingSteve Pestka, and served from 2003 to 2011,[2] when he retired due to term limits.[3] He ran unsuccessfully for Congress inMichigan's 3rd congressional district. In June 2011 he joined the Michigan Department of Human Services, where he focuses on services for veterans.[4]
Hardiman is a veteran himself, having served in theUnited States Army in Vietnam during theVietnam War as a medic in an artillery unit from 1967 to 1968.[4] He also served with theAmerical Division and became aSpecialist 5.[4]
He has an associate degree fromGrand Rapids Community College, a bachelor's degree fromGrand Valley State University, and a master's degree in public affairs fromWestern Michigan University.
