William Franklin Atwood (September 25, 1911 - September 14, 1993) was anAmerican professionalbaseball player. He played inMajor League Baseball (MLB) as acatcher for thePhiladelphia Phillies from 1936 to 1940.[1]

Atwood was born inRome, Georgia on September 25, 1911. He attended college atHardin-Simmons University. In 342 career games between 1936 and 1940, Atwood had 220 hits in 961 at bats. He died on September 14, 1993, after a car accident inSnyder, Texas.
