Bilal Abdul Hai Hasani Nadwi (born 3 October 1969) is an Indian Islamic scholar,da'i, Hadith lecturer and author who has served as the Chancellor ofDarul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama since 2023. He also serves as the General Secretary of thePayam-e-Insaniyat and a member of the executive council ofDarul Uloom Deoband.
Nadwi lost his father at ten, and was raised by his elder brotherAbdullah Hasani Nadwi.[13][14][15] He received his primary education in his native land, under the supervision of Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi. After that, he enrolled in Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama for higher education and completed the Aalimiyyah course in 1988 and the Fazīlah course in 1990 there.[2][3]
In 1991, Nadwi began his career as a teacher of hadith at Madrasa Ziyaul Uloom in Raebareli.[16][2][13] He subsequently joinedDarul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama where he lectures on Islamic thought.[2] He succeeded his brother as the general secretary of thePayam-e-Insaniyat in 2013.[2][9]
On 11 May 2021, Nadwi became the elected secretary of Nadwatul Ulama,[2] and succeeded Rabey Hasani Nadwi as the chancellor ofNadwatul Ulama on 14 April 2023,[17] and as a member of the executive council ofDarul Uloom Deoband on 29 August 2023.[18][19][20] He was also the deputy moderator of Madrasa Ziyaul Uloom Raebareli, editor-in-chief ofPayām-e-Arafāt, director of Imam Abi al-Hasan An-Nadwi in Raebareli,[16][13][21] and a member of the executive council of Nadwatul Ulama.[13] In June 2023, he was appointed to the board of theAll India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) as a secretary.[22]
In September 2023, when the AIMPLB decided to launch an India-wide campaign for helping Muslim women secure inheritance rights according to the Shariah; Nadwi was made responsible for its Tafheem-e-Shariat Committee, a group formed to support people with interpretation of the Islamic law.[23]
