In 2006,[4] Arabul Islam ofAITC won the Bhangar Assembly constituency defeating his nearest rival Mosharaf Hossain Laskar ofCPI(M). Badal Jamadar ofCPI(M) defeated Abdus Sattar Molla ofAITC in 2001,[5] Azibar Rahaman ofINC in 1996,[6] and Nuzuzzaman Molla ofINC in 1991.[7] Abdur Razzak Molla ofCPI(M) defeated Shaikh Shahidar Rahman ofINC in 1987.[8] Daud Khan ofCPI(M) defeated Seriful Aslam Ishaque ofINC in 1982[9] and Amir Ali Molla ofJanata Party in 1977.[10][11]

Hem Chandra Naskar ofINC and Gangadhar Naskar ofCPI, won.
