Beverly Washburn (born November 25, 1943) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles in theWalt Disney dramaOld Yeller (1957) and the American General Pictures horrorSpider Baby (1967).

Early years

Washburn was born inLos Angeles, California, on November 25, 1943,[2] the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Washburn of Hollywood.[3] She is the aunt of actressDarlene Tompkins,[2] as well as the sister of actress Audrey Allen.[4]

Career

Washburn began her career as achild actor, when she was three years old,[3] appearing inThe Killer That Stalked New York (1950) andFrank Capra'sHere Comes the Groom (1951). Her subsequent film credits included a supporting role in theWalt Disney featureOld Yeller (1957);[5] she is the last surviving cast member.[6] By age 16, she had appeared in 10 films and more than 500 television programs.[3]

On television, Washburn portrayed Kathryn "Kit" Wilson, onProfessional Father,[7] Shirley Mitchell onGidget,[8] and Vickie Massey onThe New Loretta Young Show.[8]: 756  She was also seen regularly onA Letter to Loretta[8]: 597  andThe Loretta Young Theater.[8]: 623 

Washburn is the author ofReel Tears: The Beverly Washburn Story, Take Two, which BearManor Media re-released in 2013.[9]
