Melvin Allys "Bert" Gallia (October 14, 1891 – March 19, 1976) was an Americanpitcher inMajor League Baseball from 1912 to 1920. He played for theWashington Senators,St. Louis Browns, andPhiladelphia Phillies.[1]
Gallia grew up inWoodsboro, Texas.[2] As an 18-year-old student at St. Louis College (laterSt. Mary's University) in San Antonio in 1909, Gallia became famed for striking outTy Cobb in an exhibition game held at the St. Louis College campus.[3]
