Berndt Seite (born 22 April 1940 inHahnswalde,Trebnitz) is a Germanpolitician. He was the 2ndminister president ofMecklenburg-Vorpommern from 1992 to 1998 and the 45thpresident of the German Bundesrat in 1992.[1]

Life

Berndt Seite was born in Hahnswalde nearTrebnitz inLower Silesia. He attended primary school in Ihleburg from 1946 to 1954 and then the Pforta state school inSchulpforte, where he graduated from high school in 1958. He then began studyingveterinary medicine at theHumboldt University inBerlin, which he completed in November 1963.[2]

Politics

Page turned tolocal politics in 1989 and wasspokesman for theNew Forum in theRöbel district. The following year he left the New Forum and joined theCDU in February 1990. From June 1990 to December 1991 he was district administrator in Röbel, and from October 1991 to March 1992 he wasgeneral secretary of the state association of the CDU inMecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
