Benone is a populartourist destination in theCauseway Coast and Glens district,County Londonderry,Northern Ireland.
Benone has severalcaravan sites, such asGolden Sands, Deighans' and a leisure complex with excellent facilities, including a 9-holegolf course (all par 3)[1] and numeroustennis courts.
A short walk leads toBenone Strand, seven miles of beach and sand dunes on the north coast of Northern Ireland betweenCastlerock and theMagilligan peninsula, most of the distance between the mouth of theRiver Bann andLough Foyle. It is one of the longest beaches in Northern Ireland, and recipient of the European Blue Flag and Seaside Award.[2]
TheBelfast-Derry railway line connects toCastlerock station which is a walk over the Downhill Tunnels andMussenden Temple to Downhill. From Castlerock, westwards trains go toBellarena andDerry~Londonderry, and eastwards trains go toColeraine and ultimatelyBelfast Grand Central.
