Benoît Ntambue Badiashile Mukinayi Baya (born 26 March 2001) is a French professionalfootballer who plays as acentre-back forPremier League clubChelsea.

Benoît Ntambue Badiashile Mukinayi Baya[2] was born on 26 March 2001 inLimoges, Haute-Vienne[3] and is of Congolese descent.[4]

Club career

Monaco

On 5 February 2018, Badiashile signed his first professional contract withMonaco.[5] He made his professional debut on 11 November, in a 4–0Ligue 1 loss toParis Saint-Germain.[6]

Chelsea

On 5 January 2023, Badiashile signed withPremier League clubChelsea on a seven-and-a-half-year contract[7] for atransfer fee reported byThe Guardian to be £32.7 million (€37 million).[8] On 15 January 2023, Badiashile made his debut for Chelsea, starting againstCrystal Palace in the Premier League. The French defender played the entire game and earned his new club a clean sheet as Chelsea won 1–0.[9]

International career

Badiashile is a senior international for France, having been a part variousunder-16 tounder-21 teams since 2016.[10]

Badiashile received his first call-up to theFrance national team for twoUEFA Nations League matches againstAustria andDenmark in September 2022.[11]

Personal life

Badiashile is the younger brother ofLoïc Badiashile, who is also a professional footballer.[12]
