Benjamin Gilani is an Indian film, television and stage actor who works inHindi cinema.^[1]

Gilani was schooled atBishop Cotton School, Shimla.^[2] He is a postgraduate fromDelhi University^[2] having studied and taughtEnglish literature atSt. Stephen's College, Delhi and studied atFilm and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune class of 1972, whereNaseeruddin Shah andTom Alter were his classmates.^[3]

He founded 'Motleys Productions', aMumbai-based theatre company in 1977, along withTom Alter andNaseeruddin Shah, andWaiting For Godot was their first play on 29 July 1979 atPrithvi Theatre. The play was revived in 2009 for the group's 30th anniversary celebrations.^[4][5]
