Benjamin Ofeimu (born September 30, 2000) is an Americansoccer player who plays as adefender forLas Vegas Lights in theUSL Championship.
Ofeimu appeared as an amateur player forUnited Soccer League sideBethlehem Steel FC during their 2018 season via thePhiladelphia Union academy.[1]
Ofeimu has committed to playingcollege soccer atPenn State University from 2019 onward.[2]
In January 2019, Ofeimu officially signed his first professional contract withBethlehem Steel FC, later named Philadelphia Union II, having impressed during his academy loan spells during the2018 season.[3]
On May 1, 2021, Ofeimu signed withUSL Championship sideBirmingham Legion.[4] Following the 2021 season, Birmingham declined their contract option on Ofeimu.[5]
Ofeimu joinedMiami FC on January 25, 2022.[6]
Ofeimu joined USL Championship clubIndy Eleven on April 11, 2024, as part of a swap deal with Miami FC.[7] Ofeimu made his debut for the club in theU.S. Open Cup, starting in a 1–0 away win overMLS Next Pro sideChicago Fire FC II on April 17, 2024.[8] He made his first league appearance three days later, appearing as a substitute in the 67th minute in a 1–1 away draw withColorado Springs Switchbacks on April 20, replacingdefenderJosh O'Brien.[9]
Ofeimu scored his first goal for the Eleven on May 18, in a 4–1 home victory overHartford Athletic.[10] He scored the final goal of the game, and his second of the season, in a 3–0 home victory overDetroit City FC in the Round of 16 of theU.S. Open Cup.[11] Ofeimu made 34 total appearances for the Eleven in 2024, including the team'splayoff loss toRhode Island FC and their historic participation in thesemifinal of the Open Cup, defeatingMajor League Soccer (MLS) sideAtlanta United FC in the process.[12][13][14] On November 20, 2024, the club confirmed Ofeimu would remain with them for a second season.[15]
Ofeimu scored his second league goal for Indy Eleven, and first in 2025, on May 28, 2025 in a 4–4 home draw against Hartford Athletic.[16] His second goal of the season came on August 2 in a 1–3 home loss toTampa Bay Rowdies.[17]
