Belforêt-en-Perche (French pronunciation:[bɛlfɔʁɛɑ̃pɛʁʃ], literallyBelforêt inPerche) is acommune in thedepartment ofOrne, northwesternFrance. The municipality was established on 1 January 2017 by merger of the former communes ofLe Gué-de-la-Chaîne (the seat),Eperrais,Origny-le-Butin,La Perrière,Saint-Ouen-de-la-Cour andSérigny.[3] La Perrière is classed as aPetites Cités de Caractère.[4]
Belforêt-en-Perche along with the communes ofVaunoise,Saint-Martin-du-Vieux-Bellême,Igé andAppenai-sous-Bellême is part of theBois et coteaux calcaires sous Belleme aNatura 2000 conservation site.[5] The site measures 105 hectares and is home to theEuropean stag beetle andEuropean ash.[6]
The Commune along with another 70 communes also shares part of anotherNatura 2000 conservation area, called theForêts et étangs du Perche.[7]
The source of the riverHuisne is within the commune.[8]
