Bein mont (Burmese:ဘိန်းမုန့်;pronounced[béɪɴmo̰ʊɴ],lit. 'poppy cake') is a Burmesepancake, widely available as astreet food.[1] It is a traditional Burmese snack, part of a broader family of dishes known asmont. The pancake batter isrice flour based. After cooking the pancakes are immersed injaggery syrup withcoconut shavings and garnished withsesame seeds,peanuts andpoppy seeds, hence the name.[2]
