Beaumontel (French pronunciation:[bomɔ̃tɛl]) is acommune in theEuredepartment in theNormandyregion in northernFrance.
The commune lies on theRisle river, located between theplaine du Neubourg and the forest ofBeaumont-le-Roger. TheParis-Cherbourg railway line passes through the commune.
The commune along with another 69 communes shares part of a 4,747 hectare,Natura 2000 conservation area, calledRisle, Guiel, Charentonne.[3]
The village was formerly known asBelmontel. The village was originally part of Beaumont-le-Roger and had a common origin in lands belonging to thedukes of Normandy which were given toJudith of Brittany and later, to the monks ofBernay.
From the early 15th century until theFrench Revolution, the area belonged to the Val family.
