Bathyergoides is anextinct genus ofrodent fromAfrica thought to be related to the modernblesmols. It is the only member of the familyBathyergoididae.[citation needed] Fossils ofBathyergoides neotertiarius were recovered from theEarly MioceneElisabeth Bay Formation ofNamibia.[2]
