Bashkim Ajdini (born 10 December 1992), previously known asBashkim Renneke, is a professionalfootballer who plays as aright-back for German3. Liga clubVfL Osnabrück. Born in Sweden, he has chosen to represent theKosovo national team.[1]
On 24 May 2016, Ajdini joined3. Liga sideVfL Osnabrück.[2] On 31 July 2016, he made his debut in a 0–1 away win againstPreußen Münster after coming on as a substitute at 58th minute in place ofJules Reimerink.[3] Twenty-six days after debut, Ajdini scored his first goal for VfL Osnabrück in his second appearance for the club in a 4–2 away defeat overWerder Bremen II in 3. Liga.[4]
On 28 June 2021, Ajdini joined2. Bundesliga sideSV Sandhausen, to replace the injuredDennis Diekmeier as the second choice.[5] On 25 July 2021, he made his debut in a 0–2 home defeat againstFortuna Düsseldorf after being named in the starting line-up.[6]
On 20 June 2023, Ajdini returned toVfL Osnabrück, shortly before promoted to2. Bundesliga.[7]
Ajdini was eligible forKosovo andGermany internationally, as well asSweden, his birthplace. On 25 May 2021, he received a call-up fromKosovo for thefriendly matches againstSan Marino andMalta,[1] he was an unused substitute in these matches.
Ajdini was born in Halmstad, Sweden, where his parents had emigrated to escape the tensions of theYugoslav Wars, and later settled inSchloß Holte-Stukenbrock, Germany. His family was deported back toVeliki Trnovac in August 2003, but he returned to Germany a year later after being adopted by a German family living inHövelhof and taking their surname Renneke instead of his original surname Ajdini.[8] On 5 March 2019, he re-took his birth surname "Ajdini".[9]
