Barbie: It Takes Two[3][4] is an American CGI-animated television series serving as the television adaptation of and based on the 2021television film,Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams.
Unveiled byMattel Television on 1 February 2022 on its website[2] and later picked up by news sources,[1][5] this is the second full-length TV series in theBarbie media franchise afterBarbie: Dreamhouse Adventures.
On 1 February 2022,Mattel Television unveiled an initial 13-episode CGI-animated television adaptation of the film titledBarbie: It Takes Two.[2][1][5] Executives ofBarbie: Big City, Big Dreams as well asMainframe Studios reprise their roles in the series with the inclusion of Marsha Griffin (who previously wrote scripts for 3 Barbie films between 2015 and 2016 inBarbie in Princess Power,Barbie in Rock 'N Royals andBarbie: Spy Squad) as a creative producer.[1]
Following on from the end of their screen debut inBarbie: Big City, Big Dreams, theBarbie fromMalibu and Barbie fromBrooklyn have fun, share the spotlight and pursue their music dreams inNew York City[6] while also learning about each other's polar opposite families, friends and cultures.
The series debuted on television in Australia via9Go! on March 4[7] and onPop in theUK andIreland on April 2[8] before launching on April 8 onNetflix in theUnited States.[6] On April 10, it aired onYTV in Canada[9] and onCanal Panda in Portugal the exact week later.[10] Mattel later revealed throughTheWrap the second half of 13 episodes would be released on 1 October on Netflix.[11]

Building on the massive success of Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams, Mattel Television announces an all-new series, Barbie: It Takes Two, launching on broadcasters and streaming services globally this spring.
A third project in the works is "Barbie: It Takes Two Part 2," which TheWrap can reveal will premiere Oct. 1 on Netflix. It will once again follow Brooklyn and Malibu Barbies as they engage in "city hijinks and aspirations of musical stardom."
