Barbara Goodson is an American voice actress who has done voice-over work in cartoons and shows. Her best-known role was providing the English dub voice of the main villain EmpressRita Repulsa in thePower Rangers television series, starting withMighty Morphin Power Rangers, and includingPower Rangers Zeo,Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, andPower Rangers in Space.

Early life

Goodson was born in Brooklyn, New York.[1]

Career

In 1988, Goodson did her rendition of Red Fraggle inFraggle Rock: The Animated Series.[2]

In the 1990s, Goodson was known for voicingRita Repulsa inMighty Morphin Power Rangers and her other appearances inPower Rangers Zeo,Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, andPower Rangers in Space. OtherPower Rangers characters she has played includePrince Sprocket andOrbus inPower Rangers Zeo, andMandilok inPower Rangers Wild Force. She also voiced Ladyborg inBeetleborgs Metallix, and Mother Talzin onStar Wars: The Clone Wars, receiving for the latter a Best Actress award from the website Behind The Voice Actors.[2]

She also voiced in HBO'sAdventures of Tom Sawyer as Tom andFLCL as Naota. For her work in the seriesCloudBread, in which she is a cast member as Wooley, Ruiz, Grandma, and Teacher Ellie, she was nominated forBest Children's Programming in 2011 for anAnnie Award. She was also awarded an Earphones Award for narrating Blair Clemons in the Time/Warner bookOn a Night Like This.[1]

She reprised her role as Rita Repulsa revived into a robotic body in a 30th anniversaryPower Rangers specialMighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.[3]
