Barasat Government College (BGC) is a state Government-owned college inBarasat,North 24 Parganas in the Indian state ofWest Bengal. The college was established in 1950[1] and is affiliated with theWest Bengal State University[2] and run by theGovernment of West Bengal. It was formerly affiliated with theUniversity of Calcutta.[3] It is aNAAC accredited with "A" grade & DST-FST sponsored college.[4][5][6]
The college has two "shifts"- morning and day. The morning shift accommodates the Undergraduate general courses in arts and sciences, and the day shift is for Honours Undergraduates and Postgraduates inbotany (which was established in 2003),zoology,physics,chemistry, andBengali.
The college is recognised byNAAC andUGC. The college is awardedA grade by NAAC.[6]
