Banswara State was located in what is today the state ofRajasthan. The rulers belonged to theSisodia clan.[citation needed]

After the death of Rawal Udai Singh ofVagad at theBattle of Khanwa in 1527, where he fought alongsideRana Sanga againstBabar, his territories were divided into the states ofDungarpur State and Banswara State. Banswarra was given toJagmal Singh who became its first ruler.[1]
