Bambo Diaby Diaby (born 17 December 1997) is a Senegalesefootballer who plays as adefender forElche.

Club career

Early career

Diaby was born in Senegal, but moved toMataró,Catalonia at the age of four and went on to represent clubs of the region as a youth.[1] He made his first team debut forUE Cornellà on 15 May 2016, coming on as asubstitute in a 0–1Segunda División B home loss againstCF Reus Deportiu.

In September 2016, Diaby joinedSerie A clubU.C. Sampdoria, returning to the youth setup.[2] The following 1 February, he was loaned toSerie C sideMantova F.C. until June.[3]

On 28 July 2017, Diaby agreed to a one-year loan deal withGirona FC, being immediately assigned tothe reserves in the third division.[4] He made his first team debut on 28 November, replacingCarles Planas in a 1–1 away draw againstLevante UD, forthe season'sCopa del Rey.[5]

Lokeren

On 21 June 2018, Diaby agreed to a three-year contract withBelgian First Division A sideKSC Lokeren.[6]

Barnsley

On 5 July 2019, Diaby signed forBarnsley on a four-year contract.[7][8] On 21 January 2020, it was revealed that Diaby had failed a drugs test after a game againstBlackburn Rovers on 23 November 2019.[9][10] On 6 October 2020 Diaby was handed a two-year ban bythe FA for testing positive for the banned substancehigenamine and his contract with Barnsley was subsequently terminated.[11]

Preston North End

On 31 January 2022, Diaby joinedEFL Championship clubPreston North End on a short-term deal until the end of the2021–22 season.[12] The club entered discussions surrounding a new contract at the end of the season[13] and on May 30 announced he had signed a new two-year deal.[14]

Sheffield Wednesday

On 2 August 2023, Diaby joined Championship sideSheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.[15] Diaby made his Sheffield Wednesday debut in theEFL Cup againstStockport County.[16]

Elche

On 22 August 2024, Diaby joinedElche for an undisclosed fee.[17]
