Baile na nGall (Irish, meaning "town of the foreigners),[1] unofficiallyanglicized as "Ballydavid", is aGaeltacht village is situated on theDingle Peninsula ofCounty Kerry, Ireland. As the2003 Official Languages Act revoked the status of theEnglish language name Ballydavid, the official name isBaile na nGall.[2]
The village is near toGallarus Castle, a 15th-centurytower built by theKnight of Kerry, the holder of ahereditary knighthood belonging to theGeraldine Dynasty.[3] It is now anIrish heritage site and stands about one kilometre from the better known and more historically significantGallarus Oratory.
RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta has a broadcast studio just outside the village.[4] The radio tower is also a transmission site forRTÉ Network Limited.
TheMarilyn, Ballydavid Head, has a relative height of 247 metres.
