Ballinalack (Irish:Béal Átha na Leac, meaning 'the mouth of the ford of the flag-stones')[3] is a village and atownland inCounty Westmeath,Ireland. It is located about 14 kilometres (9 mi) north–west ofMullingar.
Ballinalack is one of 15 townlands of thecivil parish ofLeny in thebarony ofCorkaree in theProvince ofLeinster. The townland covers 151 acres (0.61 km2). TheRiver Inny meanders past forming the western boundary of the townland. The neighbouring townlands are:Cappagh to the north,Carrick andGrange to the east,Cullenhugh andGlebe to the south andJoanstown to the west.[4][5]
In the1911 census of Ireland there were 24 houses[6][7] and 105 inhabitants[8] in the townland, mostly centred in the village.It has a pub called The Western Gem, located in the village centre.[9]
