Badminton Ireland, formally the Badminton Union of Ireland,[2] is the nationalgoverning body for thesport ofbadminton inIreland andNorthern Ireland. As of January 2024, there are more than 15,000 registered players.[3]
Founded as theBadminton Union of Ireland in 1899, it later became one of the founding members ofInternational Badminton Federation in 1934.[4]
Badminton Ireland has a total of 4 affiliated associations which come fromProvinces of Ireland.[5]
Ulster Badminton is also thegoverning body for thesport ofbadminton inNorthern Ireland and the counties of Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan.[6] It also governs the representation of Northern Irish players representing Northern Ireland only inCommonwealth Games.[7]
