Badlands Portland, or simplyBadlands, is agay bar inPortland, Oregon. Established in 2024, the bar operates in the space that previously occupiedEmbers Avenue (1969–2017), inOld Town Chinatown.

Thegay bar Badlands Portland operates at the intersection ofBroadway and Couch in thenorthwest Portland part ofOld Town Chinatown.[1] TheLGBT-owned business[2] hostsdisc jockeys and has approximately 40 screens that playmusic videos. Badlands also hosts a variety of events such asdance parties, dragbingo andshows,karaoke,pool tournaments,trivia, and viewing parties for television shows.[3]

History

Badlands Portland occupies the space formerly held byEmbers Avenue, a renowned LGBTQ+ nightclub that operated from 1969 until its closure in 2017.[4] In January 2018, owner TJ Bruce acquired the building, initiating extensive renovations to modernize the venue while preserving its historical essence.[5] Badlands opened on June 12, 2024, duringPride Month.[6] The bar is part of the chain Splash, which is based in California.[3]
