TheBachelor of Theology degree (BTh,ThB, orBTheol) is a two- to five-yearundergraduate degree orgraduate degree intheological disciplines and is typically (but not exclusively[1]) pursued by those seeking ordination for ministry in a church, denomination, or parachurch organization.[2] Candidates for this degree typically must complete course work inGreek and (or)Hebrew, as well assystematic theology,biblical theology, ethics,homiletics,hermeneutics,counseling andChristian ministry. The Bachelor of Theology may include athesis component and may consist of an additional year beyond the coursework requirements for the degrees ofBachelor of Religious Education andBachelor of Arts.[3] In some denominations, such as theChurch of England or thePresbyterian Church in America,[4][5] it is considered sufficient qualification for formalordination.

Within the United States, the Bachelor of Theology (orBachelor of Divinity) is generally identical in coursework and requirements to theMaster of Divinity.[6][7] More common than the Bachelor of Theology in the US are dual-degree programs where one may earn an undergraduate degree in Bible and(or) theology and a Master of Divinity simultaneously.[8][9]
