TheBYU Cougars track and field team is thetrack and field program that representsBrigham Young University. The Cougars compete inNCAA Division I as a member of theBig 12 Conference. The team is based inProvo, Utah, at theClarence F. Robison Track.[3]
The program is coached byEd Eyestone.[4] The track and field program officially encompasses four teams because the NCAA considers men's and women's indoor track and field and outdoor track and field as separate sports.[5]
The men's team finished in a three-way-tie at the1970 NCAA University Division Outdoor Track and Field Championships, their only national team title.[6] They originally placed 2nd, but were promoted to winner in 1971 after California'sIsaac Curtis was found to be ineligible.[7]
The Cougars have had tenAIAW individual All-Americans finishing in the top six at theAIAW indoor oroutdoor championships.[8]
As of August 2025[update], a total of 171 men and 106 women have achieved individual first-teamAll-American status at the Division Imen's outdoor,women's outdoor,men's indoor, orwomen's indoor national championships (using the modern criteria of top-8 placing regardless of athlete nationality).[9][10]
