TheBMW B57 is aturbo-dieselstraight-six engine, produced byBMW since 2015.[1]

Design

The B57 belongs to a family of modular engines, including theB37 andB47 diesel engines, andB38,B48, andB58petrol engines.[2] The engines utilise a common displacement of 500 cc (31 cu in) per cylinder.[3] The B57 replaced the previousN57 diesel engine, and was first introduced in theG11 7 Series. The B57 is available in configurations of up to 4turbochargers, that operate in adouble-series layout.[4] In addition to BMW's own brand vehicles, the BMW B57 is also used in a diesel variant of theIneos Grenadier.[5]
