TheBLUPF90 family of programs is a statistical software package used inquantitative genetics foranimal andplant breeding.[1][2] It can fitmixed models usingrestricted maximum likelihood as well asGibbs sampling to estimate variance components, and predict breeding values viabest linear unbiased prediction (BLUP).
Coded inFortran, it can performgenomic selection on hundreds of thousands ofgenotyped individuals.[3]
Compiled versions of BLUPF90 are freely available for research, and can be used on Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.[4][5] There also exists an add-on toR (programming language).[6]
