Böhönye is a village inSomogy county,Hungary.
The settlement is part of theBalatonboglár wine region.[2]
Its name derives from the given nameBuhun which got an-é suffix which meant, in the formBuhuné, that the village belonged to him.[3]
Böhönye is a settlement dating from at least 1536, when it was first seen in historical records[1][permanent dead link].
DuringWorld War II, Böhönye was captured bySoviet troops of the3rd Ukrainian Front on 30 March 1945 in the course of theVienna Offensive.
