Aziz Mirza (born 15 August 1947) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter, who is best known for his works inBollywood and Indian television.[1][2]
Mirza was born the son of Bollywood script-writerAkhtar Mirza, and brother of the film makerSaeed Mirza.
Mirza started his career in 1985 when he joined his brotherSaeed Mirza and veteran directorKundan Shah to set a new production company calledIskra. He made his directional debut with the 1989 television serialCircus starringAshutosh Gowariker andShah Rukh Khan.
He made his film debut withRaju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992) starring Khan and Chawla. The movie was inspired byRaj Kapoor's classic comedyShree 420 (1955). His next project,Yes Boss (1997) starringAditya Pancholi,Shah Rukh Khan andJuhi Chawla.
In 1999, Mirza set up a production company calledDreamz Unlimited withJuhi Chawla andShah Rukh Khan. Their first filmPhir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) was directed by Mirza. In 2003 Mirza directed the third film out ofDreamz Unlimited,Chalte Chalte starringShah Rukh Khan andRani Mukerji. The film was the first box office hit from this production house. After this, he took a hiatus from film directing due to the death of his wife. In 2007, Mirza returned to directing and released his next film titledKismat Konnection in 2008, starringShahid Kapoor andVidya Balan.[3][4]
