Carlos Ruíz^[6] (born May 9, 1997) is a Spanishprofessional wrestler and former footballer. He is signed toWWE, where he performs on theSmackDownbrand under thering nameAxiom. He is a former one-time and the inauguralNXT UK Heritage Cup Champion asA-Kid and a two-timeNXT Tag Team Champion as a member of the tag teamFraxiom withNathan Frazer. He is the first ever Spaniard to compete for and win championships in WWE.

Prior to joining WWE, Ruíz as A-Kid competed in various American and Europeanindependent circuits, notably forPro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG),Progress Wrestling, andChikara.^[7][8]

Carlos Ruíz was born and raised inMadrid,Spain. Prior to becoming a professional wrestler, he playedfootball and is a formerReal Madrid youth player, having trained underZinedine Zidane.^[9]

In June 2016, it was announced that Ruíz, performing under the name A-Kid would participate with Rod Zayas and Adam Chase inChikara'sKing of Trios, as House White Wolf.^[10] However, they would be defeated byHouse Strong Style (Pete Dunne,Trent Seven, andTyler Bate) in the first round.^[11] Next year, he participated in Chikara's Rey de Voladores tournament,^[12] but was defeated in the finals byAir Wolf.^[11] The following years, A-Kid and Adam Chase (later, Carlos Romo) wrestled in the British circuit as Team White Wolf, winning theATTACK! Tag Team Championship.^[13] They also faced each other at theRevPro 7th Anniversary Show.^[14]

Ruiz (as A-Kid) made hisWWE debut alongside fellow wrestler Carlos Romo on April 20, 2019, where they were defeated byGallus (Mark Coffey andWolfgang) during a set ofNXT UK tapings.^[15] On October 17, 2019, A-Kid was announced as having signed for theNXT UKbrand.^[16] He made his singles debut on October 31, 2019, defeatingKassius Ohno.^[17] On November 26, 2020, A-Kid became the first-everNXT UK Heritage Cup Champion Champion by defeating Trent Seven in the finals of atournament, becoming the first Spanish wrestler to win a championship in WWE.^[18] On the May 20, 2021, episode ofNXT UK, A-Kid lost the Heritage Cup to Tyler Bate. On the October 14 episode ofNXT UK, A-Kid facedIlja Dragunov for theNXT United Kingdom Championship but was defeated.

On the March 15, 2022 episode ofNXT, A-Kid made his debut on the brand coming from NXT UK in a winning effort againstKushida for a spot in a ladder match atNXT Stand & Deliver for theNXT North American Championship.^[19] The following week he competed onNXT in a losing effort againstGrayson Waller.^[20] The following week on March 29, A-Kid was entered in a triple threat match againstCameron Grimes andRoderick Strong in a last chance opportunity for the NXT North American Championship match atNXT Stand & Deliver.^[21]

In July 2022, Ruiz was repackaged as a masked superhero namedAxiom.^[22][23] He competed on the July 19 episode ofNXT 2.0 defeatingDante Chen. He then entered a best of three series againstNathan Frazer where he won the first match on the September 6 episode ofNXT 2.0 but lost the other two matches on September 13 and October 11 episodes ofNXT. AtNXT Deadline, Axiom failed to win the Iron Survivor Challenge. Axiom entered a brief rivalry withCarmelo Hayes where he lost to him on the December 13 episode ofNXT but defeatedTrick Williams on the January 17 episode ofNXT. AtNXT Stand & Deliver, Axiom failed to win the NXT North American Championship and lost again on the following episode ofNXT toWes Lee. Axiom entered a rivalry withScrypts where he defeated him on the May 2 episode ofNXT, unmasking Scrypts after the match. Shortly afterwards, the two started teaming after Scrypts turned face. On the July 18 edition ofNXT, Scrypts turned on Axiom and aligned himself with their opponents, the debuting Bronco Nima & Lucien Price, during their scheduled match. Axiom wrestled his main roster debut match on the November 17, 2023 episode ofSmackDown in a losing effort toDragon Lee.^[24]

At theNXT Deadline kickoff show, Axiom defeated Nathan Frazer.^[25] After this, he formed a tag team partnership with Frazer (with the team later colloquially called Fraxiom). In early 2024, Fraxiom participated in theNXT Tag Team Championship Eliminator Tournament, defeatingNo Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey andMyles Borne) in the first round^[26] andLatino World Order (Joaquin Wilde andCruz Del Toro) andThe Good Brothers (Luke Gallows andKarl Anderson) in atriple threat tag team match in the final^[27] to faceNXT Tag Team Champions The Wolf Dogs (Baron Corbin andBron Breakker) for the titles atNXT Stand & Deliver, but failed to win the match.^[28] In a rematch on the following episode ofNXT, Fraxiom defeated The Wolf Dogs to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.^[29] Much later, Frazer started to set his sights on singles titles to Axiom's displeasure.^[30] Eventually, Axiom would do the same as he faced LWO's Joaquin Wilde on the 31 July episode ofSpeed in theSpeed Championship#1 Contenders Tournament in a losing effort.^[31] After multiple successful title defenses, on the August 13 episode ofNXT, Fraxiom lost the titles toChase University'sAndre Chase andRidge Holland, ending their first reign at 126 days. The pair regained the titles in a rematch 19 days later atNXT No Mercy to become two-time champions.^[32][33] Soon after, Frazer began to set his sights on singles championships again. On the November 26 episode ofNXT, Axiom lost toEthan Page in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifier.^[34] AtNXT: Roadblock on March 11, 2025, Fraxiom failed to defeatTNA World Tag Team ChampionsThe Hardy Boyz for the title.^[35] Three days later onSmackDown, Axiom made his second SmackDown appearance where he lost toWorld Heavyweight ChampionGunther.^[36] AtNXT Stand & Deliver on April 19, Fraxiom lost the NXT Tag Team Championships to Hank and Tank (Hank Walker andTank Ledger) in their final match for NXT, ending their second reign at 230 days.^[37]

On the April 25 episode ofSmackDown, Fraxiom were promoted to the SmackDown brand, where they defeatedLegado Del Fantasma's Los Garza (Angel andBerto) in their first match as a team in the main roster.^[38] After four successive tag team match wins, including a non-title match againstWWE Tag Team ChampionsThe Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins andMontez Ford), Fraxiom faced The Street Profits for the titles on the May 23 episode ofSmackDown which ended in a no-contest after interference from#DIY (Johnny Gargano andTommaso Ciampa) andCandice LeRae,Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley andChris Sabin), and the returningWyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy,Erick Rowan,Dexter Lumis,Joe Gacy andNikki Cross).^[39]

Ruiz, as Axiom, and Nathan Frazer made theirTotal Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) debut atGenesis on January 19, 2025 during the tag team title match betweenTNA World Tag Team ChampionsThe Hardys (Matt Hardy andJeff Hardy) andThe Rascalz (Trey Miguel andZachary Wentz). Later that night, it was announced that Fraxiom will defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against The Rascalz on the January 23 episode ofImpact!,^[40] becoming the first WWE wrestlers to defend a WWE championship in TNA where they successfully retained the titles after interference from Wes Lee, Tyriek Igwe andTyson Dupont.^[41]

Ruiz, as A-Kid made his video game debut inWWE 2K22 asdownloadable content (DLC) alongsideThe Hurricane,Wes Lee, andStacy Keibler known as the "Stand Back Pack".^[42][43] He appeared as Axiom in the base game inWWE 2K23,WWE 2K24 andWWE 2K25.
