Awja al-Janah (Arabic:عوجة الجنا; also spelledAwj al-Janah orA'waj al-Jana) is a village in centralSyria, administratively part of theHama Governorate. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Awja al-Janah had a population of 489 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants areSunni Muslims.
In the late 19th or early 20th centuries, Awja al-Janah was sold by theBani Khalid, a partlyBedouin tribe in central Syria to the Barazi, a prominent landowning family fromHama. Its inhabitants wereSunni Muslim tenant farmers.[2]
