Avraham Aviv Alush (Hebrew:אברהם אביב אלוש; born(1982-06-12)12 June 1982) is an Israeli actor, musician, model, and television host. He is best known for playing Amos Dahari "The Baker" in the Israeli seriesBeauty and the Baker (Lehiyot Ita), and asJesus in the American filmThe Shack (2017). He also played a leading role in the Israeli seriesValley of Tears (2020).
Alush was born inKiryat Bialik,Israel, to a family of bothTunisian Jewish andYemenite Jewish descent.[1] He grew up inKarmiel,Israel, with his younger sister Reut Alush, who is also an actress.
Alush was enlisted as an Infantry combat soldier in theGolani Brigade of theIsraeli Defence Forces, where he served from 2000 to 2003.
In 2012 he was cast as a series regular in theRan Danker-starring psychological series,The Gordin Cell.
In 2013 he began starring as Amos Dahari inBeauty and the Baker alongsideRotem Sela. It became one of the most-watched shows in Israel and was a critical success.[2] The show was released to international audiences onAmazon Prime Video and onChannel 4 in the United Kingdom.[3][4]
In 2016 he had a supporting role as Rabbi David, a charismatic and handsome young man inThe Women's Balcony. The film was a major box office hit in Israel and Alush was nominated for anOphir Award for Best Supporting Actor.[5]
Prior to his role in the American filmThe Shack in 2017, he had only played in Israeli films and television.[6] With the making of this film, he is also the first Israeli actor to playJesus in an English-language film.[7]
In 2020 he signed with3 Arts Entertainment, the talent management agency.[8]
He has also appeared as a stage actor, appearing in theHabima Theater production ofDangerous Liaisons in 2016.[9] He previously appeared in the theater's 2012 production ofThe Merchant of Venice where he played Gratiano.[10]
He is also a model and has appeared in fashion advertising campaigns forFILA andCastro.[11][12]
In 2018 he collaborated with Elai Botner on the single,“Hachi Karov Elayeich” (“Closest to You”) withTablet magazine naming it the “Hottest Israeli Song of the Summer”[13] In March 2019 the duo released a new single and music video[14]
In 2025, Alush released his debut album titledעולם הפוך (Olam Hafukh –Upside Down World).[15]
In 2011, he married Israeli lawyer Nofar Koren, with whom he has four children.[1] They resided inTel Aviv, Israel.During the coronavirus pandemic he moved with his family to a farm in northern Israel near Mount Meron.[16] In 2021, Alush declared that he had become more religious.[17]
