TheAssociation for Tourism Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits (ATETS;Chinese:海峽兩岸旅遊交流協會) is a semi-officialrepresentative office of thePeople's Republic of China inTaiwan handling tourism-related affairs.[1][2] Its counterpart body inMainland China by theRepublic of China (Taiwan) is theTaiwan Strait Tourism Association.

The CSTEA office is located inRuentex Tower atDaan District,Taipei.[3][4][5]

Opening

The official opening ceremony of CSTEA in Taiwan was held at theGrand Hotel inTaipei on 7 May 2010.[citation needed] The ceremony was attended by people from both sides of theTaiwan Strait.Shao Qiwei, President of CSTEA, representedMainland China and served as both of the main speaker and master of ceremonies during the banquet.

Kao Koong-lian, Vice Chairperson ofStraits Exchange Foundation, andJanice Lai, Director-General of theTourism Bureau of theROC Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Chairperson ofTaiwan Strait Tourism Association were also present during the ceremony.

Tasks

The main tasks of CSTEA are:[citation needed]

  • Consulting in tourism-related affairs
  • Facilitating communications
  • Handling disputes
  • Promoting cross-strait tourism

Transportation

The office is accessible within walking distance southeast fromDaan Station of theTaipei Metro.[citation needed]
