Ashok Kumar Mittal, (born 10 September 1964)[1] is an Indian businessman turned politician. He is amember of parliament in India's upper house,Rajya Sabha. Mittal is also the founder andchancellor ofLovely Professional University.[2]
Mittal joined active politics after2022 Punjab election, when he was nominated byAam Aadmi Party for theRajya Sabha.[3][4] No candidate opposed his election.[5]
In September 2024, Mittal was chosen as a member of theParliamentary Standing Committee on Finance.[6]
Mittal is law graduate fromGuru Nanak Dev University,[7] and received ahonoris causa doctorate in 2022 at the 3rd convocation ofAtal Bihari Bajpayee University.[8] Mittal uses this honorary doctorate as a title publicly[9][10] against the global consensus to not do so.[11]
