InGreek mythology,Ascalaphus orAskalaphus (/əˈskæləfəs/; Ancient Greek: ἈσκάλαφοςAskalaphos), was son ofAres[1] and theMinyan princessAstyoche,[2] daughter of KingActor ofOrchomenus. Ascalaphus was also a king of the Minyans, and twin brother ofIalmenos.[3] These brothers were counted among theArgonauts[3] and thesuitors of Helen,[4] and led the Orchomenian contingent in theTrojan War,[5] whereDeiphobos threw a spear and killed him.[6]
