Asaph Fipke is a Canadian producer, writer, director, and the creator of the animated seriesStorm Hawks, which was made by the animation studio he co-founded,Nerd Corps Entertainment,[1] in cooperation withCartoon Network andYTV. He is also the creator of both the animated seriesSlugterra andRated A for Awesome which aired onDisney XD andEndangered Species, which was also produced byNerd Corps Entertainment that aired onTeletoon as well as the executive producer of the sixth and seventh seasons ofMy Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, which currently airs onDiscovery Family, and game showAirmageddon, which aired onCBBC.
Fipke studied at theUniversity of British Columbia and theVancouver Film School.
Fipke began his career withcomputer animation starting with his employment atMainframe Entertainment, where he worked on series such asBeast Wars: Transformers (as associate producer) andBeast Machines: Transformers (as producer and supervising production designer). In addition, he worked on productions forReBoot, the 2000 series ofAction Man, the TV adaptation ofHeavy Gear,Max Steel andBarbie in the Nutcracker. He eventually became Senior Vice President of Development and Production at Mainframe Entertainment in 2000, however abandoned the position in 2001.
In 2002, Fipke foundedNerd Corps Entertainment inVancouver, along with fellow animation producer Chuck Johnson. The company's first animated series,Dragon Booster, won Fipke aGemini Award for Best Animation Program or Series in 2005 and aLeo Award nomination in the same category in 2006.
