Artemas Bolour-Froushan (born 16 April 1993) is an English and American actor.[1][2] He is known for his stage work, appearing on theWest End andBroadway, and his role as Jonah Breakspear in theAmazon Prime seriesCarnival Row (2019–2023). He appeared asQarl Correy inHouse of the Dragon (2022), Buck Cashman in theDisney+ seriesDaredevil: Born Again andNoël Coward in the filmDownton Abbey: The Grand Finale (both 2025).

Early life

Froushan was born inConnecticut to an English mother and an Iranian father and grew up inSouth London.[1] He also has maternal French heritage.[3] He attendedSt Paul's School inBarnes.[4] He graduated with aBachelor of Arts in French and German fromBrasenose College, Oxford in 2015. He went on to train at theLondon Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), completing a foundational degree in 2017.[5][6]

Career

Froushan made his professional stage debut inWhite Pearl at theRoyal Court Theatre.[7] He made his television debut in the 2017BBC Two docufilmJoe Orton Laid Bare. In 2019, Froushan appeared as Gautier in the second season of theHistory seriesKnightfall. That same year, he began starring as Jonah Breakspear in theAmazon Prime fantasy seriesCarnival Row,[8] a main role Froushan would play for both series.[9] The following year, he played Nadav Topal inStrike Back: Vendetta onSky One.[10]

Froushan joined the cast ofLeopoldstadt atWyndham's Theatre on theWest End in August 2021,[11] followed by aBroadway run in 2022 at theLongacre Theatre.[12] He playedSer Qarl Correy,Laenor Velaryon's (John Macmillan) lover in the first season of theHBO fantasy seriesHouse of the Dragon, aGame of Thrones prequel and adaptation ofGeorge R. R. Martin's fictional history bookFire and Blood.[13]

In 2023, Froushan made his feature film debut as Majid inThe Persian Version, which opened at theSundance Film Festival.[14][15] In 2025, he appeared in season one of theDisney+ seriesDaredevil: Born Again asBuck Cashman[16][17] and the filmDownton Abbey: The Grand Finale.[18]
