William Arthur Schröpfer (17 March 1908 – 25 February 1962) known by the pen name and stage nameArthur Macrae was an English playwright and comic actor.[1][2][3] He graduated fromRADA in 1928;[4] with acting work including the originalWest End productions ofNoël Coward'sCavalcade (1931), andSouth Sea Bubble (1956).[5][6] He wrote thebook for the 1945 hit West End musicalUnder the Counter.
