Arthur J. Dewey is an American teacher, writer, translator and commentator with particular distinction as aNew Testament scholar and specialist on theHistorical Jesus. He is a professor of Theology in the University Scholars honors department atXavier University inCincinnati, Ohio, where he began teaching in 1980.[1]
Dewey is co-founder of the Healing Deadly Memories Program, which addresses the "question ofanti-Semitism in theNew Testament.[1] He has also been involved with the controversialJesus Seminar, a group of academics dedicated to researching the factualJesus.[2]
Dewey holds an A.B. fromBoston College, an M.Div. from theWeston Jesuit School of Theology, and a Th.D. fromHarvard University.
