Arkholme for Kirkby Lonsdale railway station served the village ofArkholme inLancashire, England. It is situated on what is now theLeeds–Morecambe line between the currentWennington andCarnforth stations.
Opened by theFurness and Midland Joint Railway in 1867, then run by theMidland Railway, it became part of theLondon, Midland and Scottish Railway during theGrouping of 1923. The station then passed on to theLondon Midland Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948. It was closed by theBritish Transport Commission on 12 September 1960[1] when the local stopping service between Wennington & Carnforth was withdrawn.
The station building was converted to a private dwelling after closure. It was once owned by comedian and television personalityJim Bowen[2] and has featured on the TV programmeThrough the Keyhole.
