Arjun Chakrabarty^[1] is an IndianBengali film and television actor best known for his portrayal of the character Gora in the Bengali musical television seriesGaaner Oparey that aired onStar Jalsha from 28 June 2010 to 16 April 2011.^[2] Chakrabarty is also known for acting in the Bengali drama-romance-comedy television seriesJamai Raja (2017–2018), where he played the lead role Ishan Chatterjee.^[3] He hails from a family which has had a legacy of association with the Bengali cultural arena, starting from Jochhon Dastidar and Chandra Dastidar (his paternal great uncle and aunt),Bijon Bhattacharya (his paternal great uncle), Jagdish Chandra Chakrabarty and Monika Chakrabarty (his paternal grandparents) and his parentsSabyasachi Chakrabarty andMithu Chakrabarty. He debuted on the big screenSudeshna Roy andAbhijit Guha'sBapi Bari Jaa in 2012.

Calcutta Times voted him as one of the 10 Most Desirable Men in 2015, 2019 & 2020.^[4][5]

Chakrabarty had his schooling at theAssembly of God Church School inKolkata. He subsequently earned a degree in Mass Communication and Videography fromSt. Xavier's College, Kolkata.

Arjun was born inKolkata,West Bengal, India on 5 March 1990.^[6] He was raised inKolkata. His brother is actorGaurav Chakrabarty. He married his long-term girlfriend, Sreeja Sen, on 10 March 2016.^[7] However Sreeja is engaged to Arjun on 6 June 2017. The couple's daughter Avantika was born on 15 February 2018.^[8]

Arjun debuted on television, along with his elder brotherGaurav Chakrabarty, in theStar Jalsha megaserialGaaner Oparey.^[9][10] Chakrabarty's character Gora was the official male lead. His acting as Gora was well-received by audience and appreciated by critics. He gained popularity through this character. However Chakrabarty began his journey in the entertainment world at a young age, working as a child actorSatyajiter Priyo Golpo onDD Bangla in 2000.

Arjun made his silver screen debut with the filmBapi Bari Jaa, a romantic-comedy directed bySudeshna Roy andAbhijit Guha that released in December 2012.

Chakrabarty was back on television throughJamai Raja onZee Bangla in 2017.^[11] His character Ishan Chatterjee was hugely popular among audience due to his portrayal.^[12]
