Aristotle Athari (born 1991),[ 1] [ 2] also known asAristotle Athiras ,[ 3] is an American comedian and actor. Athari was a cast member on theNBC sketch comedy seriesSaturday Night Live during its47th season between 2021 and 2022.[ 4] He has appeared inMolli and Max in the Future (2023) andM3GAN 2.0 (2025).[ 5]
After starting his career in stand-up comedy, Athari began collaborating with Muslim-American comediansHasan Minhaj , Asif Ali, and Fahim Anwar on sketches under the group nameGoatface .[ 6] An hour-long special of their sketch work aired on Comedy Central in 2018.[citation needed ] He had a recurring role on the final season of HBO'sSilicon Valley as Gabe.[ 7] Athari also cohosts the improvised podcast "This Is Americans Live," a parody of the radio showThis American Life .[citation needed ]
In 2021, Athari was cast as a featured player onSaturday Night Live , alongside fellow newcomersJames Austin Johnson andSarah Sherman , for itsforty-seventh season .[ 8] [ 3] He was the secondIranian American [ 9] and secondMiddle Eastern American cast member in the show's history, afterNasim Pedrad .[ 6] [ 7] He did not return for the 48th season ofSNL .[ 4]
