InGreek mythology,Areia (Ancient Greek: Ἀρεία means ‘warlike’) orAria was theCretannymph daughter ofCleochus. She became the mother byApollo ofMiletus.[1]
When Areia gave birth to her son she hid him in a bed ofsmilax, Cleochus found the child there and named him Miletus after the plant.[2]
