The familyArcheocrypticidae is a small group ofbeetles with no vernacular common name, though recent authors have coined the namecryptic fungus beetles. Adults andlarvae seems to besaprophagous and are often found inplant litter.[1] Worldwide, about 10 genera and 50 species are found, most species arepantropical.Enneboeus caseyi has been recorded from the American South, Central America, and Mexico.[1] About 20 species are found in Australia, in the generaEnneboeus,Australenneboeus[2][3][4][5] andGondwanenneboeus,[5][6]Archeocrypticus,Falsoplatydema,Nothenneboeus,Sivacrypticus andWattianus.[5] They are largely absent from thePalearctic andNearctic regions.[7]
