Aranza Vázquez Montaño (born 21 August 2002) is a Mexicandiver . She representedMexico at the2020 Summer Olympics in the individual3-metre springboard .
Vázquez attends theUniversity of North Carolina , majoring in Exercise Science.[ 2] [ 3] She is the two-timeACC champion in the 10-metre platform and 3-metre springboard and was named the 2021 ACC Women's Diver of the Year.[ 4] [ 5] In the2021 NCAA Championships , she placed second in the 1-metre and 3-metre springboard and sixth on the 10-metre platform.[ 6] In the2022 NCAA Championships , she placed third on the 1-metre platform.[ 7]
In the2023 NCAA Championships , Vázquez won both the 1-metre and the 3-metre events, becoming the first North Carolina diver to win a national title.[ 8] [ 9]
International career [ edit ] Vázquez began her international career with the 2017 FINA Diving Grand Prix, before participating in the1-metre springboard event at the2019 World Aquatics Championships inGwangju , South Korea.[ 10] She placed fourth at the2021 FINA Diving World Cup , qualifying for her firstOlympic Games .[ 11] [ 12] At the2020 Summer Olympics , she placed sixth in the3 metre springboard event.[ 13]
Vázquez has a younger brother, Rodolfo, who also dives for theNorth Carolina Tar Heels .[ 14]
